World Famous Spudnuts
Mix
- 6 Cups of Flour
- 1/2 Cup Shortening
Then Add
- 4 TB sugar
- 1 Tsp salt
- 2 yeast cakes - dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water and 2 TBL sugar. Let rise.
- 2 Cups Milk (Scalded and Cooled)
- 1/3 Cup Mashed Potatoes
- 1 Egg, Beaten
Let rise until double in bulk and knead down. Let rise a little again. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut. Cool in Wesson oil.
Glaze
- 1 lb Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
- 1 tsp Vanilla
Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Dip donuts in glaze and enjoy!
Makes about 50 spudnuts.
