World Famous Spudnuts

Mix

• 6 Cups of Flour
• 1/2 Cup Shortening

Then Add

• 4 TB sugar
• 1 Tsp salt
• 2 yeast cakes - dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water and 2 TBL sugar. Let rise.
• 2 Cups Milk (Scalded and Cooled)
• 1/3 Cup Mashed Potatoes
• 1 Egg, Beaten

Let rise until double in bulk and knead down. Let rise a little again. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut. Cool in Wesson oil.

Glaze

• 1 lb Powdered Sugar
• 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
• 1 tsp Vanilla

Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Dip donuts in glaze and enjoy!

Makes about 50 spudnuts.
